Dear Grandparents (Carver),
I sure intended to write to you before this but you know how things like this go. I’m not writing to my folks tonight so I’ll appreciate it if you’ll tell them you heard from me. I sure didn’t expect to be so far from home in such a short time but here I am in England. It’s not too bad here but I sure would rather be back home. The greatest inconvenience we’ve had yet is that our mail is slow in coming through. It’ll get to rolling one of these days though.
We’re staying in a small town so we get to see a good bit of the people here. They are different than us and have queer ways but underneath they are really human.
How are things going back in Orestes? I am anxious to hear how your job is coming now that the weather is getting cooler. Winter must almost be there by now.
Let’s just trust the Lord to take care of us and not worry about what might not even happen. Write to me and I’ll write you a real letter one of these times. I’m getting along OK.
