Hello Folks,
I sure am off my schedule of writing this week. I didn’t really intend to make this my week-end letter but it may turn out as such. I got a letter and the box from you yesterday so I can’t really expect anything today. And, of course, if nothing comes today, it’ll be a Monday before I hear again. Thanks for everything in the box. The trousers are really better than I thought they were, and I may be good to have them before winter’s over. I appreciate the reading material too. Even though I don’t spend any great amount of time reading, if you’d add up all the short periods, it’d be a good lot.
Before I started writing I looked over a few old letters and I see there were a couple of things I had either thought of before or you’d mentioned. You asked if I have been getting the Tribunes regularly. The only ones I have received up to date is that bunch from Richard. It’s not not important enough for you to worry about whether I get every one of them or not. But of course, I’d like to get a few once in a while, especially if there’s anything of interest to me.
I’ve been very glad to get the pictures in the last couple of letters but I’ve been kind of disappointed in them. Some of them were really good pictures but I guess I just didn’t like the way the pictures of me turned out. I think I can see the trouble is that khaki’s just don’t look nice in pictures. Perhaps that’s one reason why I’d like to get home at least once this winter - for you to take a picture of me in uniform (OD’s) that I wouldn’t be ashamed of. I know it’s crazy of me but khaki’s never have looked right. If you get a chance how about sticking an extra film in a hole someplace with that in mind. I’m going to send a few of the pictures back and I know you won’t take it that I wasn’t glad to get them. Briefly here were the deciding reasons: I already have a really better picture of Grandma and Grandpa; the picture with Jim in it is just as good of the dog and it means a little more with Jim’s cue-ball in it; the picture of “us kids” really isn’t very good and I have several better group pictures, and I think the picture of Dad and I on the shed will mean more to you than it does to me. I carried the little picture of Judy and Linda with me all through Europe but I see that I’ve another one of them with Aunt Mary and Uncle Cecil in it too. I guess the best picture of the whole bunch was the one you too in front of the church. I got a kick out of the [MISSING PAGE]
