From 346th Infantry:
We reassembled at Ft. Benning, Ga., and learned that the Division was being inactivated. Soon trains to various posts throughout the country were taking the members of the regiment to new assignments, some going home discharged, some going to sweat out the point system in camps in the states, and others to replace the Pacific veterans in the Army of Occupation.
The inactiviation date of the Division was 21 September, 1945.
